Abstract

In the current industry, the quality standards are increasingly demanding, forcing companies to search for innovative solutions in order to ensure a more favorable cost/benefit ratio. In view of the increasing concern regarding the environment in recent decades and, consequently, the elaboration of rigorous standards aiming at the reduction in the pollutants emission, new ways to optimize the processes of industrial combustion started being developed. One of them is the control of excess air, in order not only to optimize the thermal efficiency of furnaces and burners, but also to reduce the emission level of pollutants such as CO, NOx and SOx.Aiming to optimize the excess air, it is required a more precise combustion control, which can be achieved through a closed loop control system. Thanks to the advent of the Industry 4.0 and automation, developing high precision systems became possible, which allows an analysis and operation in the concentration levels of O2, CO2 and CO present inside the furnaces. The proposal of this Scientific Initiation project is to develop a system for data acquisition and processing of an automotive wideband lambda sensor, as an alternative to the oxygen analyzers widely used in combustion control, for use in the analysis of oxygen concentration in industrial combustion processes.
