Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the progress of induced experimental periodontitis (PE) in tamoxification-treated ovariectomized (OVX) rats (TAM). Will be used 60 Women randomly assigned to 2 groups of experiments (n = 30), OVX-SS Group: animals with induced PE receiving saline (SS) administration (0.9%). PE-TAM Group: PE animals receiving tamoxifen citrate administration. In both groups, the bond will remain until euthanasia. The administration of SS and TAM will be daily by gastric dose at 0.5 mL and 15 mg / kg respectively throughout the experimental period. For PE induction, a number 24 cotton thread will be fitted around the left and right lower first molars. After 7, 15 and 30 days after the induction of PE or animals, they will be euthanized by the administration of the lethal dose of thiopental (150mg / kg). The collected jaws will be processed for the historical and histometric analysis. They will be evaluated as histological characteristics in the furcation region and percentage of bone in the furcation. The quantitative data used will be submitted to statistical analysis (p <0.05) in the specialized computer program (Bioestat 5.0).
