Abstract

This project, as part of a doctoral research, proposes a study on hybridity processes in the city of Carteia (Spain), a 7th century BC Phoenician foundation in the Straits of Gibraltar from its beginning until the 2nd century BC. This proposal will be accomplished in the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology of the University of Bristol, in the United Kingdom, under the supervision of Dr. Tamar Hodos. The main objective of this specific project is to calibrate the empirical data set already prepared by our research in Brazil through the approach of the Globalization in Antiquity, a potent theoretical framework proposed by Hodos from University of Bristol (UoB), which may be defined as processes of increasing connectivities that unfold and manifest as social awareness of those connectivities (Hodos 2017, 3).
