Abstract

The aim of this project is to identify whether there are differences in the behavior and well-being of broilers supplemented with feed containing antibiotics as a growth promoter compared to birds supplemented with probiotics. Two thousand one hundred and twenty one-day-old male chicks from a commercial hatchery will be used. The birds will be housed in an experimental aviary divided into twenty four boxes with fifty-three birds housed in each box with a density of 11.11 birds/m². The aviary has a structure that will guarantee the control of the internal temperature of the environment. The chicks will be divided into four experimental treatments, where all diets will be based on corn and soybean meal:Group 1 - birds fed with feed containing growth-promoting antibiotic; Group 2 - birds fed diets without growth-promoting antibiotics and with the addition of commercial probiotic A; Group 3 - birds fed diets without growth-promoting antibiotics and with the addition of commercial probiotic B; Group 4 - birds fed diets without growth-promoting antibiotics and without the addition of probiotics. The nutritional management adopted will be divided into three phases: initial, growth and final, and the formulation of the diets will follow the recommendations of Rostagno et al. (2017). Analyzes of behavioral characteristics related to well-being will be made and assessments of locomotion, well-being and bone quality will be carried out. The evaluation of the results will be made through statistical analysis, using the SAS 9.2 program.keywords:poultry, Probiotic, Welfare, Behavior.
