Abstract

Data from Forum Brasileiro de Segurança Pública in 2018 showed 180 cases of sexual abuse per day, mainly in women. Unfortunately, not all women sick for health services after the episode and between 30-50% develop Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a consequence of this kind of violence. Besides, a significant number of patients abandon the treatment for PTSD after rape and the literature lack evidence about motivations for treatment discontinuation. This study objectives are to review the literature to better understand attrition rates in PTSD after rape and to qualitatively propose hypothesis for explaining the matter.
