Abstract

In this project, we will investigate the lignin bio-oil downstream processing through the study of catalytic hydrodeoxygenation of lignin fractions obtained from lignin-first biorefining and refined by selective adsorption, aiming to produce biofuels and/or added-value chemicals. This fundamental work is essential to shed light on the molecular mechanisms associated with the catalytic conversion of lignin over HDO catalysts and to contribute to the future establishment of a lignin-derived platform chemical able to replace fossil fuels.
