Abstract

In a pilot study, using a sample of 100 children from the ROC cohort , we evaluated Principal Components analysis (PC) from different measures of maternal exposure to gestational stress. Two PCs explained more than 70% of the data variability, the first one related to maternal psychic vulnerability (PC1) and the second one to metabolic vulnerability (PC2). Using a two-dimensional graph, with PC1 score on the x-axis and PC2 score on the y-axis, we found two groups of neonates clearly separated. These neonates presented different anthropometric measures of measures of weight, growth, abdominal and cephalic circumference. Moreover, we found an association between antisense PAX8 gene DNA methylation with cephalic and abdominal circumference. This gene has already presented differential methylation in placentas and showed a potentially role as a predictive risk for neurodevelopmental disorders. This project aims to evaluate the multivariate construct of stress and its association with biological measures of reactivity to stress exposure over time. (AU)
