Abstract

This project aims to chracterize the palynology content of sedimentary and volcanoclastic rocks associated to the Serra Geral Group (Paraná Magmatic Province) and determine the palynology darkness index through PDI and NOPDI techniques. It is expected that the palynological study will allow characterize the paleoenviroment from the Southern Portion of Paraná Basin during the Eocretaceous as well help determine the chronologic position of the Serra Geral Group, which will be investigated by geochronological and paleomagnetic studies in the thematic project. Also, the particulate organic matter darkness index will allow evaluate the thermal effect of the volcanic rocks on the host rock. This effect has long been considered of importance by petroleum companies, especially on the Brazilian unconventional petroleum systems (off-shore). (AU)
