Abstract

In this project we will experimentally investigate the influence of the nuclear potential in the damping of Mott oscillations for the 6Li+6Li system. Mott oscillations is a quantum interference effect that occurs in the scattering of charged particles with integer spin (bosons). These strong oscillations are observed in the angular distributions of elastic scattering. Canto and Hussein published a paper suggesting the existence of certain specific energies, in which Mott's oscillations would be fully damped. This damping, called TI (Tranverse Isotropy), makes the angular distribution for elastic scattering to become flat at angles around 90 degrees at the center of mass. For energies above the barrier, the elastic scattering between nuclei would have the influence of the nuclear interaction. We will in this work investigate the sensitivity of the occurrence of this TI due to the nuclear potential and verify the possibility of using it as a criterion to define the nuclear potentials for identical particles interaction. We perform angular distribution measurements of the elastic scattering for the 6Li+6Li system at some specific energies above the barrier. (AU)
