Abstract

Long-term hypothyroidism is associated with cardiac fibrosis (due to neutrophil infiltration) and ventricular dilation, which can culminate in heart failure. Studies show that HTs deficiency leads to an increase in inflammatory markers, such as C-Reactive Protein (CRP), TNF-alpha, IL-6 and GFR-beta1 and the restoration to a condition of euthyroidism, although it promotes improvement in cardiac function, appears to result in even higher levels of inflammatory and fibrotic markers in both plasma and heart. The main objective of this work is to investigate whether the suppression of NLRP3 inflammama can contribute to the prevention of the pathological condition caused by Hypothyroidism. (AU)
