Abstract

The progression of Cancer involves several risk indicators for a child's life, including impacts on the psychosocial dimension. When hospitalizations become necessary, the hospital environment can include protective measures, but they can also intensify the adverse effects related to the illness process. Based on these observations, the objective of this research project is to analyze, from the perspective of parents and / or guardians and health professionals, the protection indicators associated with the promotion of resilience and the risk factors present in the illness and treatment of children with a history of frequent hospital admissions in the oncology sector. The research evolves from a qualitative nature, in a transversal period and based on a multiple case study. The fieldwork will consist of four to six parents and / or guardians and four to six health professionals, who have direct contact with children that are in a situation of frequent hospitalizations for cancer treatment. Recruitment will be fulfilled through the database of a hospital, located in a medium-sized city in the state of São Paulo/Brazil. The levy will be done virtually, using three instruments: semi-structured interview, reflective interview and focus group. The data analysis will be mediated by Thematic Analysis. It is expected that the results obtained will contribute to expanding knowledge in the area in which this research is inserted, along with assisting in the development of psychosocial care practices aimed at improving the quality of life of children who receive the diagnosis and commit to the Cancer treatment.(AU)
