Abstract

The smut disease is caused by the biotrophic fungus Sporisorium scitamineum, which causes losses in sugarcane sugars. Therefore, the objective of this project is to establish efficient and practical in vitro cultivation systems for the study of this plant-pathogen interaction. This project can assist in the selection of resistant varieties, leading to more efficient disease control, reducing losses, and increasing productivity.(AU)
