Abstract

Due to the wide range of contributions both to fundamental research and to the field of technological innovations, studies on nonlinear optics and the search for materials with high optical nonlinearity are increasingly present in the academic scene. Among the various compounds with non-linear properties, vitreous materials are a notorious target of interest because, in addition to presenting high non-linearity by adding polarizable dopants, they are extremely susceptible to optimization of the non-linear response by altering their compositions. In this context, the project in question seeks, in addition to introducing theoretical and experimental concepts related to the interaction of light with matter in high-intensity regimes and the Z-Sweep procedure in ultra-short pulses, to characterize the nonlinear refractive processes from the vitreous system with GeO2Bi2O3 P bO composition, as well as analyzing and interpreting the interference of the atoms that make up the system in the manifestation of nonlinear effects observed experimentally.
