Abstract

The goal of this project is to present the work to be developed in the research internship at UDELAR (Uruguay). The main problem looks into the social and ecological conflict experienced by "Caiçaras" communities in "Jureia", a region located in the southern coast of the State of São Paulo (Brazil). The project sets up ethnographic questions of my PhD research, which considers the agency of the concept of "meio ambiente" (environment), the effects of environmental policies, and the processes of co-production of knowledge among academic groups and Caiçaras' Dwellers Associations. In this sense, the internship intends to examine some themes of my thesis with the "Red Temática de Medio Ambiente" and the "Centro Interdisciplinario para el Manejo Costero Integrado del Cono Sur" in Uruguay. These groups have experience in co-labor works with coastal populations whose territories in Latin America were overlapped with protected areas. "Caiçaras" have been creating political-scientific networks with researchers and social movements that include groups in Uruguay. Therefore, there is an opportunity for this internship to deeply study theoretical questions but also to probe the implication of ethnography as far as the research deals with the consequences of "pragmatic alliances" that have maintained different "social ontologies".
