Abstract

In this research, it is going to be done the molecular characterization of Giardia spp. in mules and donkeys. For this, a total of 100 fecal samples will be processed through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) to amplify the smaller subunit of the ribosomal RNA gene. Positive samples by this gene will be characterized for partial amplification of the beta-Giardini, glutamate dehydrogenase, and triosephosphate isomerase genes. The sequences obtained are going to be analyzed by phylogenetic positioning. As a way to analyze the results of this project, descriptive statistical and inferential analysis (Fisher's Exact Test) will be performed to verify the association between the presence and absence of the protozoan with each of the studied variables.
