Abstract

Practices regarding suicidal behavior prevention in adolescence must be contextualized, built together with adolescents and their families and value the knowledge and strengths of communities and those who have their own experiences with these behaviors. Given the understanding that there is not a simple and single way of preventing those behaviors, and the importance of looking from a critical perspective, the objective of this study is to understand suicidal behaviors prevention among adolescents, from the perspective of critical suicidology. It is a qualitative research with data collection through semi-structured interviews with professionals and researchers from the international critical suicide studies network, and participatory observation. Getting to know and understand the suicidal behavior prevention strategies in adolescence can indicate ways to promote health and prevent diseases in adolescence, considering the phenomena prevalent in this population.
