Abstract

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) belongs to the Solanaceae family and is one of the most nutritious vegetables grown in the world. In Brazil, its productivity is 65.14 ton ha-1, it is expected that its production and consumption will continue to increase. To reach the production and market demand both in fresh and in sauce for the industry, an important aspect is the seed studio, which is an initial material that must gather quality attributes (genetic, physiological, sanitary and physical) to productivity success. The production of tomato seeds involves high costs and a big problem is the reduction of storage longevity. Seed longevity represents the period in which seeds maintain their viability and vigor after physiological maturity, varies depending on the species, and is an important characteristic in the ecological, agronomic and economic scope; different are the parameters related to seed deterioration, but the most important are: relative humidity and temperature, in which they are stored. To predict longevity under these conditions, there are interesting mathematical models, such as Probit or Logit, which serve to determine the viability of a seed lot and analyze its behavior. As described, the objective of the project is to evaluate the Probit or Logit model in predicting the longevity of tomato seeds, influenced by relative humidity and temperature factors (AU)
