Abstract MXenes, one of the latest members of the 2D material family, present outstanding properties, such as high electrical conductivity, fast charge transport, and hydrophilicity, which enable them to be explored in diverse applications. MXenes can also be combined with other materials to yield composites with superior performance. Although graphene-based materials have been explored with MXenes in varied areas, the combination of MXenes with graphene quantum dots (GQDs) has not yet been fully explored. In this research project, we propose the synthesis and characterization of MXenes/GQDs composites to be applied in chemical sensors and other applications, such as in electrochemical capacitors and printable inks. The internship will allow the candidate to learn new techniques and methodologies for synthesizing new materials based on MXenes and use them combined with GQDs for different applications in sensors and devices.
