Abstract This research proposes an investigation in an atypical context for the world: the COVID-19 pandemic. The new reality brought by this event has caused several changes in the daily lives of people around the world since 2020 when social distancing was established in order to contain the transmission of the new disease. Many adaptations were considered remarkable in this new context, such as the migration of the music-making of many artists to the virtual environment. This study will seek to understand what were and how to have these adaptations been happening in the case of the interlocutors studied here: immigrants from Africa than in Brazil developed their careers in music and are musicians in activities that continue to perform, despite the new circumstances.
