Abstract It has been long recognized that the temperature-dependent accumulation of radiogenic products derived from spontaneous decay of radioactive isotopes in minerals occurs as a continuum at varying rates over certain ranges of temperatures. As a consequence, measured mineral cooling ages result from a protracted and often complex thermal history whose deconvolution demands robust modeling strategies. The aim of this Scientific Initiation project is to train a student in the theoretical foundations of low-temperature thermochronometry, and with an emphasis on modeling of existing data, practicing strategies with an increasing degree of complexity, from single-sample 1D to multi-sample 3D modeling.
