Abstract

In everyday life, individuals are exposed to different types of stimuli that can generate stress and have different consequences, depending on the intensity and duration of the stressor stimulus. Among these consequences is the development of mood disorders, such as anxiety and depression, and stress disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder. Health agencies, worldwide, are increasingly concerned with the advancement of this new reality and have been encouraging research to investigate the neurobiological mechanisms involved in these situations, as well as the search for pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions that could improve the board. Among these interventions, phytotherapy is a potential candidate for studies on the subject, especially in Brazil, due to its rich and little explored biome and the accessibility and low cost of derived compounds. In this context, Acromia Aculeata, popularly known as Bocaiuva, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities, and may exert a protective action on several physiological systems. In this sense, the objective of this work is to observe the effect of treatment with bocaiuva pulp oil (OPB) in animals that will be submitted to an acute stress model (by social defeat) on the acquisition and extinction deficit of aversive memory, in addition to observe alterations in the biochemistry of the neurons of these animals. This study will allow a greater understanding of the area of neuropharmacology related to stress and the use of herbal medicines as a pharmacological intervention to promote the extinction of aversive memory.
