Abstract

The objective of this study will be to evaluate the nutritional value and botanical composition of multispecies pastures under grazing management strategies. Forage legumes Macrotyloma axillare, Neonotonia wightii, Calopogonium mucunoides, Stylosanthes spp cv. Campo Grande and Aruana grass (Panicum maximum cv. Aruana) was sworn in October 2019 and February 2020, respectively. The multispecies pasture has been evaluated in four treatments of forage canopy height (15, 30, 45, and 60 cm) maintained under continuous stocking and variable stocking rate by sheep in a randomized block design with four replications (16 paddocks of 500m2/each) from December 2020 to April 2022. Monthly evaluations of forage mass, botanical and morphological composition. Forage samples will be taken out through grazing simulation to evaluate the botanical and morphological composition of these samples. The nutritive value (mineral matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), and lignin and in vitro dry matter digestibility will be carried out by joining the samples from each season. It is expected to determine management targets of multispecies pastures of Aruana grass and legumes that can provide a high presence of legumes in the forage mass and in the grazing simulation samples and improve the nutritive value of the forage.(AU)
