Abstract

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a generalized chronic pain disorder. Its prevalence varies between 0.2 and 6.6% worldwide, with a higher prevalence in females. The cause of FM remains so far unknown and thus there is no gold standard therapy defined for both diagnosis and treatment, and although we have pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies, physical exercise continues to be the main support in FM administration. The diagnosis and treatment of FM can be performed in primary health care (PHC) and although it can be diagnosed and treated in this context, the literature lacks articles that demonstrate that the diagnosis and treatment of FM actually occur in PHC. This is because it is common for PHC health professionals to refer the patient to a specialist, making the diagnosis and treatment processes lengthy, significantly affecting the lives of patients related to the time of this wait. The optimal management of the syndrome requires a comprehensive and comprehensive assessment, involving a multidisciplinary approach to the patient from the PHC, moving on to screening, and consequently the referral of the patient within the health service flow correctly to the appropriate professionals. Thus, the objective of this work is to collect data on how the diagnosis and treatment of FM are carried out in the PHC in the city of São Carlos: for this, a cross-sectional study will be carried out, in which health professionals from the hospitals will be invited to participate in the study. UBS and USF are distributed within the municipality. Professionals will answer an online form in which they will be evaluated which guidelines are followed by them and what conduct they perform when treating a patient with suspected FM. Finally, the results will be analyzed descriptively, with a qualitative approach to the professionals' conduct and a quantitative on the percentage of which guidelines are followed.(AU)
