Abstract

The present project intends to continue the study initiated in the PIBIC 2020-2021 announcement about the Mãe Preta (Black Mother) monument, made by Júlio Guerra and installed in the Largo do Paissandu in São Paulo, nearby Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Homens Pretos Church. Important sculpture of the black cultural heritage tour of São Paulo's downtown, it stands out as a point of reference for religious manifestations and self-identity of the local community. It was inaugurated in 1955, during the celebrations of the IV Centenary of the City of São Paulo, a period in which it was aimed at the integration of different elements of São Paulo's memory. From this study, we also intend to produce an audiovisual for informational purposes, promoting easy access to the results of academic research.(AU)
