Abstract The objective of this project to be developed at Université Paris 8, under the supervision of Professor Orazio Irrera, is to analyze Michel Foucault's interest in the history of spaces during the 1960s and 1970s. For this work, the study seeks to focus on the collective research carried out by the philosopher in the "Centre d'etudes, de recherches et de formation institutionnelles" (CERFI) and in the "Comité de la recherche et du dévoloppement en architecture" (CORDA), as well as in unpublished materials on the subject available in the Library National de France (BNF) and the Institut Mémoires de l'Édition Contemporaine (IMEC). We understand the emphasis that Foucault gave to spaces resulted in a unique way of understanding history, which allows us to point out new perspectives for the relations between temporality and spatiality in historiography. In the two decades that we selected for the project, the theme of spaces was highlighted by Foucault in collective research that brought together architects, historians and psychologists interested in the history of "collective equipment", that is, institutions, architectures, hospital, housing and urban models. During this period, we also emphasize the presence of dispersed writings that make it possible to reflect on the role of spaces in Foucauldian thought, as well as the effects that collective activities promoted in his courses and publications. In this sense, by delving deeper into Foucault's research work, the project emphasizes a rich spatio-temporal view, which raises new openings and reflections in historical knowledge. (AU) | |
