Abstract

Objective: to build and validate an Educational Guide for nursing care with critically ill adult patients using a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (CCIP). Method: this is a research carried out in two stages: the first is Survey-type research and will present a quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional approach, through the participation and analysis of the knowledge of nurses working in intensive care sectors adult on the care and maintenance of PICC. Also, the recruitment of participants will be done by a non-probabilistic sampling of the "snowball" type (snowball technique). In turn, the second stage is a methodological study for the construction of an Educational Guide based on the variables collected through the participation of nurses and on the evidence described in the literature on the subject of the study and validation through judges. During the validation process, the expert will answer an agreement scale that will be developed by the researchers with information about the appearance and content of the material, following the framework called Suitability Assessment of Materials (SAM). After organizing the data and analyzing it, a careful analysis of the considerations and suggestions made by the experts will be carried out, as well as the calculation of the Content Validation Index (CVI) to assess the agreement of judges regarding the representativeness of each item. For this study, the minimum index of 0.80 for each item in the table will be considered acceptable for calculating the CVI. Finally, the Educational Guide built and validated for all participating nurses in the first stage of the study will be forwarded. (AU)
