Abstract

Quality of life is defined by the WHO as "the individual's perception of their insertion in life, in the context of the culture and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations, standards, and concerns", that is, it can be said that it does not only concern the clinical or physiological state of the individual, but also their subjective perceptions, such as the ability to perform physical and social activities. The frailty syndrome is a geriatric syndrome understood as a multidimensional phenomenon that exposes the individual to a greater state of vulnerability, due to the reduced ability to establish functions after aggressions of various natures. This syndrome is marked by a decrease in resistance to stressors due to a decline in physiological reserve and its main repercussions are unintentional weight loss, fatigue, decreased handgrip strength, reduced physical activities, decreased gait speed, and social relationships. The potentiation of the frailty syndrome caused by CAD increases the chances of negative outcomes in the individual's life, mainly affecting their QOL and, despite evidence indicating that the frailty state would be more related to biological age than to chronological age, it is A high prevalence was observed in the elderly population, increasing in Brazil. In this context, the present study aims to evaluate the potential benefit of CABG on the QOL of fragile patients, in addition to comparing, the surgical techniques used, which will allow the greatest gain in QOL for the patient.(AU)
