Abstract

This project's main objective to present and reflect on the theme of the constitution of the self in Sartre's work. For this, our path consists of mapping the place that this theme occupies within Sartrean philosophy, the author's position and concerns about it during the course of his work. We must have our starting point in the thesis of "The Transcendence of the Ego", which presents a translucent and impersonal conception of the consciousness, followed by "Being and Nothingness", in order to elucidate how consciousness can be personalized, from the "circuit of selfness". And, finally, to analyze and reflect on the philosopher's existential psychoanalysis method, which has as its central objective the understanding of the concrete person through his desire to be, together with the work "Saint Genet", as an example of Sartre's existential biographies.
