Abstract The present study has the objective to avalue the catch composicion of the recreational fishin of fat-snook, Centropomus parallelus, in midle ando low course of Ribeira river, south of São Paulo state. It expects to carry out an analysis of the frequency distribution of captures by length class for C. parallelus, as well as to evaluate the state of exploitation and to compare the results obtained for the species in the Ribeira River with the data available for adjacent areas such as the estuary of Cananeia and Iguape . Data collection will be done through the i) use of existing data in an information bank gathered by the advisor and collaborators, since 2014, within the scope of the Robalo Project, especially during fishing tournaments held in the municipality of Registro/SP in 2017, 2018 and 2019; ii) data collected through visits to marinas located in the study area; iii) data sent directly by amateur fishermen through a cell phone application; iv) data collected indirectly, through the analysis of images posted by fishermen from Registro/SP and region on social networks. This approach will seek to obtain representative samples of the different size classes of C. parallelus, since each form of data collection has biases and limitations, advantages and disadvantages. The results obtained will be useful to support discussions about the fisheries management of C. parallelus, since the species is considered near threat by state regulations, in addition to being a sequential protandrous hermaphrodite, which demands a differentiated management for the species and its congeners. | |
