Digital monitoring of posts related to amber necklace found on Facebook: a study to understanding the phenomenon of disinformation in Dentistry

Abstract

This study aims to determine posts containing disinformation related to the amber necklace on Facebook, both in English and Portuguese, through qualitative and quantitative analysis. The study has 4 stages. First, the search strategy will be constructed by the combination of keywords and hashtags related to the amber necklace using boolean descriptors in the CrowdTangle platform. Second, the posts will be evaluated considering content, sentiment, interaction, engagement and comments. Third, the images of the posts will be characterized according to their structural properties and visual features. Fourth, a propagation network of URLs and hashtags related to the amber necklace will be built using the Gephi software. The most influential profiles for the propagation of false information will be analyzed qualitatively. Finally, descriptive statistics of distribution, frequency and central tendency, as well as the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Levene tests for normality and homogeneity of distribution, Pearson or Spearman for correlation and T or Mann-Whitney tests for comparison between groups will be performed. Linear univariate or Poisson analyzes will be performed, considering a significance by the Akaike information criterion (AIC), for the construction of a multivariate regression model that seeks to identify parameters that predict the propagation of false information related to the amber necklace on Facebook.
