Abstract

Postpartum depression in Brazil is of interest in public policy planning in Brazil due to its biopsychosocial problems that can cause puerperal women as well as the child. The causes of this pathology, like many others, are complex and range from postpartum hormonal dysfunctions, aggravated by social conditions such as stress in caring for the baby and dealing with a new phase of life. Some of the most recurrent causes recorded in the literature as aggravating postpartum depression are related to the mother's income and family relationships before the child to be born, also closely linked to the problems that black women suffer in Brazil. Therefore, the present study estimates to quantify the prevalence of postpartum depression symptoms in black and brown women according to the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale. Through an online form, it will search self-declared black and brown women who have gone through the experience of child birth in the last four months to participate in a postpartum depression symptoms scale and statistically analyze the results and verify the prevalence of postpartum depression symptoms in this population. The hypothesis is that there is an above-average prevalence of the analyzed symptoms. (AU)
