Abstract

The present work aims to compare the reception models - as well as local policies, institutions active in the process, people served, and shelter facilities - between two protagonist countries in the current migratory movement: Brazil and Italy. With its particularities, which take into account the historical context and the disposition around the globe, the work seeks to identify similar processes between humanitarian logics in emergency scenarios. While Brazil deals with the flow of Venezuelans from the serious and widespread violation of human rights, due to the economic, political and social crisis from the Maduro government, in Venezuela, Italy deals with a context of movements due to war, accentuated, recently, by the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine - in addition to the continued reception of refugees and asylum seekers from other countries, long before this fact. Through a bibliographic review on reception policies in Europe and the global South, and the creation of a field journal focusing on reception centers in Italy, the work will make a comparative analysis of the acquired knowledge, with the data collected during the research of field already carried out, by me, in the shelters for Venezuelan refugees of Operação Acolhida in Brazil.
