Abstract

The scientific initiation research will map the terms and categories that were used by common persons when they were stimulated to think about controversial themes like religious, political, and Brazilian racial diversity. That objective is going to be operationalized from the coding, in the Atlas-Ti software, a series of 96 interviews that are already done in the project "Religion, Law, and Secularism: the reconfiguration of the civic repertoire in contemporary Brazil" (2015/024975), supported by FAPESP. Their search will evaluate how these diversities notions are demarcated by variables like age, income, and religious affiliation. In the actual context of reconfiguration of secularism, strongly marked by renewed political and public presence of the religions, it will be part of the learning how religious pluralism and gender, racial and ethnic diversity are present in the surveyed groups' imaginary and the way how it is translated while phrases, words, arguments, and political positions. The conflicts inherent to religious expansion, and the emergence of intolerant notions about questions that involve sexual, religious, and ethnic’s minorities, will underline the cartography of the researched imaginary, in an attempt to map the diversity placed in their perceptions and values.
