Abstract

The urban morphology and typology influence the roughness of the urban fabric. In turn, the roughness of the urban fabric alters the flow patterns of urban ventilation and the dispersion of air pollutants. The use of urban land has a direct influence on the use of transport modes, which are the main sources of air pollutant emissions in the city of São Paulo. The main objective of this project is to analyze the parameters of urban morphology and urban land use, in areas of urban transformation axes in São Paulo, and to evaluate how the built environment interferes with the emission and concentration of atmospheric pollutants. The research method consists of producing a multidisciplinary theoretical foundation, modeling urban parameters simultaneously with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation. Among the expected results is the comparison models of interaction between urban morphology, land use urban, emission and dispersion of air pollutants, in addition to the development of a booklet with urban morphology guidelines and its relationship with the emission and dispersion of air pollutants and a plug-in for the Rhinoceros® program.
