Abstract

Abusive relationships are relationships marked by cycles of violence, which can be psychological, moral, patrimonial, sexual, or physical; being very dangerous for its rapid escalation. Women are predominantly constituted as victims, however, one must consider that the dynamics of the abusive relationship can be constituted bidirectionally; or without the man necessarily constituting himself as the aggressor and the woman as the victim. Based on Jeffrey Young's Schema Theory, which allows us to understand the Early Maladaptive Schemas (EMS) and how they help maintain dysfunctional patterns, the present study aims to identify which EMSs are frequent in abusive relationships. There will be 100 participants, of both genders, over the age of 18 who have signed the Informed Consent Form (ICF). Participants will answer a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Young Schema Questionnaire (YSQ-S3), and the Revised Conflicts Tactics Scales (CTS2). They will be recruited through the dissemination of an invitation on several social networks and will answer the questionnaires remotely. (AU)
