Abstract

This research explores the relationship between Marília Garcia's poetic work and cinema. It starts from the premise that the presence of cinema is intrinsically connected to the poet's theoretical-critical-reflective expedient around the theme of displacement, evidencing a critical thinking that recognizes the centrality of the technical image in the processes of subjectification and perception of time and space, and takes cinema as a privileged means to think about displacement in contemporary times. It is assumed that cinema in Garcia's poetry is revealed in a double aspect: as a worldview and as a strategy of poetic creation. In this way, the term cinematographic awareness is proposed to designate this double aspect of the Marilian relationship with cinema: metaphor of the world and method of poetic creation. It is understood, then, that this poetics establishes a relationship of otherness (PAZ, 1992) between poetry and cinema: cinema as the other of poetry, to think about the world and itself. Thus, it is intended to demonstrate how Garcia arranges cinematographic ideas and procedures in order to carry out his poetic expedients around the theme of displacement. For this, the Deleuzian concepts of image-movement and image-time are important to understand why cinema constitutes privileged medium for Marília Garcia to carry out her theoretical-critical-reflexive expedient.
