Abstract

Once reused in the design of a new asphalt mixture, the reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) generates sustainable benefits and, due to the high oil prices during the last decades, it has become an increasingly common activity, mostly in countries like the United States, Germany, Netherland, and France. Despite this, asphalt mix design hardly uses more than 25% of RAP in their composition. One of the main reasons is related to the asphalt binder present in the RAP; it has not been possible yet to affirm its degree of activity, neither the degree of blending with the new binder, nor the recycling agent. Considering the knowledge relevance of the data to guarantee the quality of the recycled asphalt mixture, this work aims to analyze some characteristics of storage of RAP and production of hot and warm recycled asphalt mixtures in order to observe its mechanical behavior, providing support to the performance analysis of recycled mixtures compared to conventional ones.(AU)
