Abstract

Positive Youth Development (PYD) has been understood as an emerging field of investigation and intervention that seeks to understand young people with strengths, capable of developing socio-emotional skills and competences. Based on this, researchers have proposed different models for assessing the PYD, including the 5C's theoretical model, which proposes the assessment of five positive characteristics (confidence, competence, connection, character and care). In the sports context, the model has been one of the main to be used in programs and theoretical research, with the aim of evaluating the PYD. However, it is possible to observe in the literature the scarcity of psychological instruments aimed at evaluating the model, creating a limitation in relation to the accomplishment of researches evaluation of interventions in the sports area In addition, the model is grouped by characteristics that can be influenced by response biases, considering control possibilities, the present research will use the forced choice method, which consists of evaluating the items in a comparative way with other items in the same block. The research aims to develop the forced choice version of the Positive Youth Development in Sport Scale (EDPJE). For this, the project will be divided into two studies, the first with the aim of estimating new evidence of validity for the EDPJE, in addition to adapting the instrument to a forced choice version using the IRT method. And the second study focused on estimating evidence of validity of the EDPJE - Forced Choice Version, using Thurstonian IRT Models for Forced-Choice Questionnaires, Pearson's correlation coefficient and structural equation modeling.
