Abstract

This research project proposes to study the formation of the super attenuation band in multi-coupled periodic structures. Periodic structures have emerged in the last decade as a powerful object of study, due to their ability to reorganize the propagation of waves, creating regions of propagation (pass-bands) or attenuation (stop-bands). A brief literature review can demonstrate the wide range of applications of these systems, which in turn, drives the research and development of optimization techniques. Recently, the super attenuation band (SAB) has emerged as an alternative strategy to improve the performance of periodic structures. This attenuation zone is characterized by an ultra-wide stop-band, of significant attenuation, and occurs due to the combination of two local resonance effects and Bragg scattering. In the present work, a Euler-Bernoulli beam composed of symmetrical cells with attached force and moment vibration absorbers is analysed. These structures have already proven to be effective in the formation of SAB, however, in the case of multi-coupled systems, the increase in the number of cells causes the uncoupling of the effects. In this sense, the present project proposes to investigate different modelling and properties, such as quasi-periodicity, to guarantee the formation of SAB. It also proposed the determination of control parameters, as well as the execution of experimental procedures that support the developed models. (AU)
