Abstract

The citriculture is one of the main Brazilian agricultural activities, but the crop faces serious phytosanitary challenges. Among these challenges, Huanglongbing disease (HLB) stands out on a global scale, since it has no curative methods, has rapid propagation, and causes severe damage to fruit production and quality. Thus, it is required to intervene preventively, that is, to prevent new infections from happening to control the disease. These new management strategies are being studied by the thematic project entitled: "Measures for reducing primary infections in the integrated management of Huanglongbing in São Paulo citrus belt: technical and economic feasibility" (process 2017/21460-0), in which the current project is inserted, with the purpose of evaluating the benefits and costs related to the new management techniques studied, allowing the development of a cost-benefit or cost-effectiveness model of these. The analysis method to be used is the calculation of the Net Present Value (NPV), from which the benefit-cost ratio is derived for the feasibility analysis. Therefore, it is expected that the result will be a cost-benefit analysis of each management strategy proposed and a comparative analysis of the techniques presented, thereby making it possible to evaluate and indicate their respective feasibility from an economic-financial point of view to the decision-making process.(AU)
