Abstract

The research about integrated microcavity-based optical sensors, such as micro-rings and microdisks, has experienced tremendous advances in recent years and is promising to contribute to diverse demands. In this work, we propose the study and design of compact Photonic Molecules (PMs), which guarantee a sufficient spectral response to generate scattered light when pumped at a certain wavelength. Under these conditions, the PMs should allow detection by the correlation analysis of the field strength distributions of the "pixelated" modes distributed in the cavities that compose the PMs. This new detection method should ensure a reduction in the complexity of the measurement apparatus required along with microcavity-based optical sensors such as tunable laser and high-resolution photodetector.(AU)
