Abstract

REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (DCSREM) is a parasomnia marked by maintenance of muscle tone during REM sleep, allowing people affected by this condition to be able to act your dreams. Recent evidence has placed DCSREM as one of the possible prodromal stages of Parkinson's Disease (PD). Justification: There a scientific gap in relation to the investigation of the proportion of people with PD who have had symptoms of DCSREM in the past. The evaluation of this relationship will allow to understand the neuro progression of both diseases and the sleep disorders in PD. Objective: To investigate the prevalence of previous history of symptoms compatible with DSCSREM in a population with PD. Methods: A retrospective observational case-control study will be conducted with men and women diagnosed with PD. The sample will be composed by 70 participants with PD and 70 without PD. Social, demographic, anthropometric, cognitive deficit, PD severity, PD onset date and regarding past DCSREM symptoms will be collected. The evaluation of previous symptoms compatible with DCSREM will be done through the RBD Screening Questionnaire, in a validated version for Brazilian Portuguese (RBDSQ-BR). Descriptive data and the RBDSQ-BR score will be compared between groups using Student's t-test or Mann's test Whitney for numerical data, or the chi-square for categorical data. A logistic regression will be performed having as the main outcome the diagnosis of PD, and as predictor variables the score on the questionnaire RBDSQ-BR, age and gender. Finally, an association table will be assembled.4to calculate the following data: accuracy, positive and negative predictive value, sensitivity, specificity and odds ratio. (AU)
