Abstract

In the current Brazilian scenario, one of the facets of violence that most kills individuals are violence motivated by homophobia. One of the forms of homophobia that has traumatic potential for the victims, and which lacks in-depth studies - especially in psychoanalysis and qualitative research - is the so-called "intrafamilial homophobia", which has its origins in the family circle. The present study seeks to investigate how intrafamilial homophobia can cause long-term traumatic effects on subjectivity, through the psychoanalytically-informed qualitative research approach called the "Free-Association Narrative Interview Method", and based on Sándor Ferenczi's trauma theory.
