Abstract

Ontology is the area of philosophy concerned with the study of what there is; what constitutes reality. But what is the best method for investigating what there is? When are we allowed to say that something exists or not? These are questions that meta-ontology will try to answer. In this way, the ontology of mathematical objects will seek to study the existence of mathematical objects, while meta-ontology will tell us how this study can be carried out and what conclusions we can draw from it. The present project is a proposal to study meta-ontologies that argue that through language we can have direct answers to the questions of the ontology of mathematics. That is, the study will focus on researching the ways in which meta-ontology is used contemporaneously in solving ontological questions such as "do numbers exist?"
