Abstract

Dogs classified as brachycephalic are more susceptible to the development of brachycephalic syndrome, causing several local and systemic disorders, with an important negative impact on the quality of life of these patients. Due to the high occurrence of different degrees of airway obstruction, this syndrome shares several characteristics with obstructive sleep apnea in humans, allowing the use of studies in these animals as a model for advances in the knowledge of this disease. This study aims to correlate arterial oxygenation with different degrees of brachycephalic syndrome, through blood gas analysis.
