Abstract

In this project, we propose the application of the methodologies developed in recent years in our laboratory (LQBO-UFSCar) in the synthesis of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) ibuprofen. For this synthesis, we will use continuous reaction systems designed and built in our laboratory for photo and electrocatalysis, seeking to advance with the appropriate applications of these solutions.In this way, we intend to develop a synthesis of ibuprofen that, despite being a well-known and relatively low-cost API, still presents problems in its commercial syntheses, deserving more advantageous synthetic investigations. In this case, we will apply a continuous electrocatalytic step for a selective iodination reaction, and then two photocatalyzed steps to generate the desired API.In general, with this project, we seek to value the efforts and results of our team obtained in recent years, applying knowledge and solutions in the synthesis of relevant molecules using continuous conditions. Above all, we want to generate high-level knowledge and training for the candidate for this fellowship, both in the concepts and procedures of organic synthesis and in the skills to operate systems in a continuous flow regime.
