Abstract

Currently, it has been reported several expressed retrocopies. However, due to the high similarity between retrocopies and their respective parental genes, it is still a challenge to accurately measure the expression profile of these gene copies. Additionally, a large fraction of this "JP-2" project is based on the investigation of expressed retrocopies. Thus, here we propose to build an accurate pipeline (algorithm) for measuring the activity (expression) of retrocopies in primates (mainly those from humans) and rodents. To perform this goal, we will combine experimental validation data and simulation data with already published algorithms.
