Abstract

The project aims to develop optical communication techniques that benefit from the simultaneous control of different photonic degrees of freedom in what we call structured light. Ways of preparing and recognizing patterns of structured light will be studied using different methods, including machine learning technics. The developed techniques will be tested and applied in the transmission of information encoded in structured light, with special attention to the study of the robustness of the information when transmitted through turbulent media. The developed techniques will also be tested in the recognition of patterns generated in the interaction of structured light with non-linear media, both in high intensity regime and in photon counting, and will be applied to the connections of the Rede Rio Quântica.
