Abstract

Energy markets have recently evolved to integrate distribution systems. Thus, in addition to the wholesale energy market (MAE), energy market structures for the distribution system (MED) have been proposed. The integration and coordination between the MAE and the new MEDs gives rise to the so-called transactive energy markets (MET). One of the basic tools used by market operators is the market clearing procedure (PCM), which calculates the schedule of generating units and the market clearing prices, taking into account all the important operational constraints of this system. This research project aims to investigate, propose and implement PCM models for the distribution system operator (OSD) in a MET environment, which adequately represent distributed generation resources, such as: batteries, flexible loads, prosumers, micro-grids, etc. From the implementation of the PCM model proposed in this project, it is expected to contribute towards providing the OSD with a basic computational tool for the analysis of the MED.
