CRITICAL TORQUE PARAMETERS IN JUDO AND JIU JITSU FIGHTERS

Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to analyze and compare critical torque parameters, time to exhaustion and neuromuscular fatigue in judo and jiu jitsu fighters and untrained individuals. In this study will participate healthy men, with ages between 20 and 40 years, that will be distributed in trained group (GT - compound by judo and jiu jitsu fighters), and untrained group (GNT - compound by individuals without experience with muscle strength training at least 6 months ago). All volunteers will attend the laboratory on 3 occasions. In first visit will be performed anthropometric measurements and ultrasound images and familiarization with study protocol. In second visit will be performed peak isometric torque test and critical torque test for hand grip muscles. In third visit will be determined the time to exhaustion in severe domain and neuromuscular fatigue of hand grip muscles. The data obtained will be expressed in mean ± SD and relative values to body mass. Comparison of variables between GT and GNT will be performed by t Student test for unpaired data. The effect of training and group on muscular fatigue will be evaluated by Anova Two-way test, with Bonferroni post-hoc. The correlation between variables will be performed by Pearson correlation test. The level of significance adopted will be set at p < 0,05.
